Reviews roundup

Checked 14 October 2026. A citation list. I am not adding a score of my own.

What I checked

Source check, 14 October 2026: Metacritic and OpenCritic pages, the all-language/all-purchase Steam API and PS Store US. These are different populations and scales; this guide does not average them into its own review score.

Aggregates

Metacritic's selected PC review panel shows 83 from 12 critics. Other platform panels have different counts and should not be blended with that panel; the earlier claimed Switch 2 split is omitted because it was not reliably tied to a platform in the research.

OpenCritic shows 82 Top Critic Average, 84% Critics Recommend and 33 reviews. The Steam API returns 1,971 positive and 56 negative reviews out of 2,027 for all languages and all purchase types: 97.24% positive, rounded to two decimals. The previous 1,889 figure used a different or earlier store snapshot. PS Store US shows 4.94/5 from 262 ratings, not the previous 4.96/261.

Praise, reservations and buying context

The publisher's launch roundup emphasizes highly positive reviews, including Shacknews and Noisy Pixel at 10/10. That is a curated publisher selection, not the full distribution. OpenCritic also lists GameSpot and Nintendo Life at 8/10, and Push Square at 6/10.

Metacritic's excerpts describe inventive interlocking mechanics and satisfying discoveries, but also prolonged roadblocks, repetition, story weaknesses and excessive length. The Wand Report's 40/100 is a clear dissenting example. These are the critics' judgments, not claims from our own playthrough.

If slow, difficult rule-based puzzles are not what you want, a high score alone will not make this a suitable purchase. Check the source review's platform and tolerance for backtracking or long stalls before deciding. No verified IGN score is supplied.
